The self learning is used a lot with RSV4 bikes. That works.

I've been doing some work on making an xdf for rsv4 7sm, not yet for cali because I don't have a map.

Sorry only available in English, from training:

The Marelli 7 SM necessitates a number of specific procedures and configurations which are briefly described below.

Throttle valve test
At each Key-ON, the ECU runs a test of the throttle valve spring. The end of the test is signalled by a single flashing of the stop light
The vehicle may be started before the test is completed. In this case, the test is interrupted.
After numerous starts, the control unit inhibits start until the entire throttle valve test is complete. The errors possible are:
•Opening → P0161 (no recovery)
•Closing → P0160 and/or P0168 (limp home recovery strategy, if possible)

Throttle valve closure acquisition
At each 150th Key-ON, a throttle valve closure test is also performed to ascertain the end stop position of the throttle valves (see previous graph).
This self-acquisition cycle may also be launched from the diagnostic tool using the procedure 'Throttle valve self-acquisition with diagnostic tool'.
If the closure values are incorrect, the error P0162 is generated (“Lower mechanical travel stop self acquisition”).
Note, however, that this error does not trigger a recovery strategy. This is because an incorrect end stop position does not directly compromise the correct functionality of the system.

Throttle grip self-acquisition
This procedure is necessary to allow the injection ECU acquire the precise closed position of the throttle grip.
Before launching this configuration procedure, ensure that the throttle grip is completely closed, that the throttle cable free play is correct (excess tension may prevent the demand sensor from assuming the correct position).
Step by step prompts are displayed on the screen to guide the operator through the procedure.

Hello Paul,

Could you describe me those steps?
When I did the test, after the '' start '' I've only had the message '' completed ''
Finally, I believe, for I dare not launch it again!
For fear of crashing my ECU!

Pascal, the steps are in Piaggio PADs system the dealer has. We made Guzzidiag do the same. I never got feedback from rsv4 owners that there was need for mor instruction. But if the ecu was not of the bike, there is no need to do the procedure. As you can read in the text it does self learning each key on. Only if you have errors that tell you to do the self acquisition again, then you should do it.
If you have no errors, you don't get anything better with it.

Step by step prompts are displayed on the screen to guide the operator through the procedure.

I would be ready to buy a Rexxer evo user kit, and you lend it:
I have asked ''shop.daniele-moto.de'' if there was a kit with maps for our 1400 California Touring, but I have not received response.
